What are Dermal fillers made of? There are many injectable cosmetic fillers on the market today. At botonics, we use a variety of products depending on what is most appropriate for your particular needs. In most cases, the various Restylane products generate the best results. Restylane is a cosmetic filler made in Sweden and designed to eliminate wrinkles and folds in the skin of the face and the lips. Introduced in 1996, Restylane is still manufactured in Sweden by pharmaceutical company Q-Med and widely used there as well as other European countries, South America, and the United States. Figures from the manufacturer estimate that over a million people have successfully been treated with Restylane.
Is it safe? The hyaluronic acid in botonics Dermal fillers is biodegradable, which means that, when the injected gel breaks down, it turns into water and carbon dioxide and disappears unnoticed from your body.
What will happen during treatment? Your botonics Practitioner will determine the areas and extent of treatment by discussing your objectives and then use the most appropriate product to achieve an aesthetically pleasing result.
How long does treatment take? Lip enhancement treatment can usually be done in about 15 - 30 minutes and no recovery time is needed. However, you should allow at least an hour for treatment to ensure there is time for the anaesthetic to take full effect.
How does it work? The active ingredient in Restylane is derived from hyaluronic acid, which is a natural sugar found in the skin. Its function in the skin is to maintain volume and pliability. The unique property of this acid is its ability to bind with water molecules up to 1000 times its original size, making it an excellent choice for a filler. Because it can bind with water, it is extremely safe when eliminated with regular body waste over time.
How quickly will I see results? After the injection, the lips often become a little swollen. This means that the result directly after the treatment may not be the final result. The swelling typically resolves spontaneously within a few days. To achieve the result you want it is recommended to have a touch-up treatment 2 to 4 weeks after the initial session. This will also add to the duration of the treatment effect.
How long will it last? Experience shows that botonics Lip Enhancement is effective six to nine months. Together with your botonics Practitioner, you can draw up a plan for regular follow-up treatments to maintain the initial result. Our treatment provides a long-lasting but not permanent result leaving you the option of refining your treatment in tune with changing taste and fashion.
Does it hurt a lot? When treating the lips, pain relief in the form of local anaesthesia is often used. Since the lips are more sensitive than other areas, we use a dental block anaesthetic when performing Lip enhancement.
Is there any reason I shouldn't have treatment? During your consultation, a medical history will be taken to assess any risks that would preclude treatment. We recommend you review the Aftercare instructions to be aware of the do's and don'ts post treatment.
What are the side effects? Immediately after treatment, there may be slight redness, swelling, tenderness and an itching sensation in the treated area. This is a normal result of the injection. The inconvenience is temporary and generally disappears in about a week. The lips can look somewhat uneven during this time. This means that the results directly after the treatment should not be seen as the final result.
Will I look unnatural after treatment? At botonics, we strive for a natural looking result via subtle improvements so your treatment will not radically alter your appearance.
Do I have to be a certain age to have Dermal filler treatment? Dermal filler treatments are generally thought to be safe to use in individuals aged between 18 and 65.
