BEFORE SURGERY
-

THINGS TO PURCHASE BEFORE SURGERY

Garment. Your aftercare garment will be supplied to you on the day of your procedure.
-
Gauze. Make sure to have a box of 4x4 gauze. You can purchase at drug store.
-
Arnica (optional). - www.alpinepharm.com - may decrease bruising, or help it to go away faster. People with high blood pressure should not take Arnica.
THE DAY OF SURGERY
-
You may shower and shampoo your hair the night before or morning of your surgery.
-
Don't eat for 8 hours and don't drink for 6 hours before surgery (general anesthesia).
-
You may brush and rinse your teeth, but do not eat or drink anything.
-
No moisturiser or body lotions.
-
Do not bring any jewellery or valuables with you on the day of surgery.
-
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. Wear flat, comfortable shoes. Remove contact lenses and dentures before surgery.
-
Someone must drive you home and stay with you the first night (general anaesthesia).
AFTER SURGERY
The time necessary to perform the procedure depends on the number of areas being Liposuctioned. The range is anywhere from 1 to 4 hours.
-
Continue to limit yourself to light activities the first week after surgery. However, make sure that you don't stay in bed continuously. Make sure you walk around every once in a while to allow for blood flow.
-
Make sure you drink a lot of fluid post-operatively.
-
After the first week, limit yourself to activities that are comfortable. No strenuous aerobic activity for 4-6 weeks after surgery.
-
The night after surgery you might want to have some protective sheets or towels on your bed. Your incisions will ooze for the first one to two days.
-
ADJUST GARMENT/ BANDAGE EVERY 2 HOURS. This may mean undoing and repositioning the binder. You should have gentle compression. If you cannot put your finger in between the garment and your body, it means it is too tight. If the garment is too tight it will prevent proper blood flow.
-
Apply Polysporin/Neosporin Ointment to the incisions with cotton tipped applicator daily until the sutures dissolve.
-
You may shower as soon as you like after surgery. Make sure someone is with you. You may be nauseated from anaesthesia for up to 2 days. Pat the incisions dry and reapply the Ointment.
-
Do not smoke for at least one week after surgery.
-
Do not use aspirin-containing products for at least one week. You may take Tylenol or pain medication as prescribed.
-
No weight loss diets for at least 3 weeks. Make sure to eat a healthy, well-balanced diet during this time.
-
Avoid direct exposure of incisions to sunlight for at least 6 weeks. After 6 weeks, apply sunscreen (at least SPF 15) to the area of the incision if you will be in the sun for extended periods of time.
-
Be sure to finish your entire prescription of antibiotics.
WHAT TO EXPECT AS YOU RECOVER
-
Immediately after surgery, some clients feel groggy or nauseous. These feelings normally subside by the next day.
-
You will probably be very sore for the first week. Bruising is normal and will subside in 2-4 weeks.
-
You may experience some numbness. Remember not to put ice or anything hot directly onto skin because you may have decreased awareness of temperature damage.
-
Once all of the swelling has subsided, you may opt for a small touch-up.

Recovery time
Time off work is highly dependent on how large of an area is Liposuctioned. If a single area is Liposuctioned then it may be possible to return to work the very next day. As more areas are Liposuctioned the amount of bruising and swelling increases and, therefore, the recovery time increases. If several areas are Liposuctioned, it will take about 3 weeks for the majority of swelling and bruising to resolve. Some people with sedentary jobs go back to work after 4 days. If your job, however, requires strenuous activity then it may take up to 2 to 3 weeks to return to work.
Possible complications
Liposuction in our hands rarely has complications but they must be discussed. The most common complications are: inadequate fat removal or contour irregularities. Because we have extensive experience in Liposuction these are uncommon. If they do occur, we address this in several ways including external ultrasound, endermology, selective Liposuction, etc. Other possible complications include infection and wound healing problems, decreased skin sensation, and fluid or blood collection.

| For years I had been self conscious of a scar on my forehead, and wore my hair in a fringe to cover it. When I finally decided to have dermal filler treatment, I couldn't believe how quick and simple it was! I'm very pleased with the result and am wearing my hair off of my forehead for the first time in four years. I only wish I had visited botonics sooner!! |

| As a former model, I was apprehensive about having Wrinkle relaxing injections and Dermal filler treatments because I thought it would be painful and I would look strange. I needn't have worried! The process was virtually painless and the result completely natural. |
