UK Cities Most Interested in Botox and Fillers

|

Botox and fillers, both aesthetic treatments, are no longer the exclusive territory of celebrities and influencers. Now they are part of the daily beauty routine of women across the country, and people can’t get enough of trying them out for the first time. In fact, Brits have been turning to appearance-changing procedures in increasing numbers, with 11% undergoing some kind of aesthetic treatment in 2023 and almost twice as many indicating they would consider one in 2024.

So, what’s behind the interest? A combination of social media, cheaper options and increased awareness about what these treatments actually are. But one thing is obvious: where you live might say a lot about how likely you are to smooth a wrinkle or boost your glow.

We had a peek at the figures to see which UK cities are the most curious (and eager) when it comes to Botox and fillers. Some might surprise you…
Top UK Cities Ranked By Interest

Wondering where interest in Botox and fillers is surging? Here are the UK cities most curious about getting aesthetic treatments, based on search volume and a dash of cultural context.

Top UK Cities Ranked By Interest

Wondering where interest in Botox and fillers is surging? Here are the UK cities most curious about getting aesthetic treatments, based on search volume and a dash of cultural context.

London

12,000 – 742 searches per capita

No surprise here. Thanks to its plentiful array of clinics and a personal image-obsessed culture, Botox and fillers are a lifestyle in the city. With professionals wanting a confidence boost and influencers chasing the “perfect” angle, there is sky-high demand.

Glasgow

3,400 monthly searches 172 searches per capita

Glasgow has a burgeoning beauty scene that frequently operates under the radar. Social media plays a significant role, with younger crowds driving interest in treatments that offer subtle enhancements. It’s a city that wants to look good, and Botox is clearly on the radar.

Manchester

2,640 monthly searches 216 searches per capita

Manchester has a history of being a beauty hotspot, so this accolade seems well deserved. It’s a thriving aesthetic economy, but it was already near the top of the list in 2017. The city’s embrace of glamour, nightlife, and self-expression makes non-invasive tweaks seem par for the course.

Liverpool

1,840 monthly searches – 270 searches per capita

Previously crowned the most Botox-curious city in the UK, according to a 2017 report, but Liverpool is still up there. The city’s infatuation with beauty and bold style has not subsided; if anything, it has mutated. Non-invasive treatments are just another option in the menu of self-care for many here.

Bristol

1,060 monthly searches – 456 searches per capita

Bristol has offered a more subtle and natural approach to aesthetics. Consider her as someone who makes little tweaks rather than transformational overhauls. Yet, curiosity is spreading quickly, particularly among those in their 30s who are seeking prevention more than quick fixes.

Birmingham

1,530 monthly searches – 748 searches per capita

Being one of the UK’s largest cities, Birmingham is home to a diverse group of people seeking aesthetic treatments for various reasons, from post-baby glow-ups to career confidence boosts. Interest is consistent and increasing.

Leeds

1,220 monthly searches – 666 searches per capita

Leeds is young and arty, with an emerging aesthetic scene. Treatments are increasingly popular among college students, young professionals, and individuals seeking a fresh, polished look.

Newcastle

980 monthly searches – 306 searches per capita

Newcastle has always been glamorous, but it’s just not quite at the top anymore, though demand for fillers and Botox remains as prevalent as ever. The clinics here are busy, especially on weekends.

Nottingham

640 monthly searches – 515 searches per capita

There’s a more subdued but rising curiosity in Nottingham. Treatments tend to be subtle and early preventative (particularly in women in their late twenties and early thirties).

Sheffield

560 monthly searches – 994 searches per capita

And finally, for the list, Sheffield’s getting on board gradually with all that caressing and beautification. Although there may not be a huge demand, there is demand, with more clinics opening and word of mouth spreading the trend.

Regional Trends and Observations

When it comes to Botox and fillers, interest isn’t just spread evenly across the UK, but there are definite patterns. Referring to sheer numbers, London is the outright winner of the battle. Still, northern cities are holding their own and surpassing the capital in some aspects in terms of curiosity about non-invasive procedures.

In reality, as the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) confirmed, search interest from northern UK cities was even greater than that from the US in recent years, which is not something you’d necessarily expect. Cities including Liverpool, Manchester, and Newcastle have always led the way in a ‘look great, feel good’ culture, with non-surgical treatments often being viewed as a confidence boost rather than a luxury.

There is also a distinctly urban tilt to the data. Larger cities, of course, provide more access to clinics and practitioners, as well as word-of-mouth recommendations, all of which make it easier for people to look into their options for, say, Botox or fillers. In some more rural locations, the interest is likely still there, but access to hornets and visibility of them may be lower; this is why the search volume may have dropped.

Another thing to note? Age plays a role. It’s younger people, especially in cities, who are driving the trends toward “tweakments” – tiny, preventive-oriented interventions rather than full-on overhauls.

So while geography does play a part in the picture, it’s not that one area is more “into” looks than another. It’s about what kind of access people have, what the local culture is, and how open people feel about trying new things.

How Botox and Fillers Became so Popular in the UK

The popularity of Botox and fillers in the UK has not been driven solely by accessibility or cost, but rather influenced mainly by what we see on our screens. Social media networks like Instagram, TikTok and Snapchat have played a significant part, not just by amplifying influencer content, but by creating filters that subtly ‘perfect’ facial features. For many of us, it’s less about chasing the look of a celebrity than it is about trying to emulate that soft, smooth skin we enjoy in our own filtered selfies.

Celebrity culture has not helped matters either. Once a hush-hush thing reserved for reality TV stars and red carpet regulars, aesthetic treatments have become topics of open conversation. People are now more comfortable discussing Botox and viewing it as a preventative measure rather than a reactive one.

In 2024 alone, around 10,000 non-surgical cosmetic procedures were performed in the UK, according to BAAPS figures. Although that number is only for some practitioners, it offers a glimpse into how mainstream these treatments have become. The data also points to a trend among men receiving injections, though women are still in the majority.

In the end, the surge in popularity is about feeling good and taking charge of how we age, and it’s striking a chord all over the country.

The Role of Social Media and Influencers

Social media hasn’t just helped shape the rise of aesthetic treatments; it has been the primary driver of it. Instagram and TikTok are rife with glow-up videos, filler before-and-after shots, and influencer vlogs about their Botox appointments. The normalisation process is the one that makes it feel like that.

In fashion-conscious cities such as London, Manchester, and Liverpool, where influencer culture reigns supreme, it’s hardly surprising that Botox and fillers are in high demand. They see their favourite creators having open conversations about tweaks, and it makes them curious.

Even in small towns that lie far from major cities, exposure to filtered photos and ‘perfect skin’ online has created a de facto digital beauty standard, which injectable treatments appear to promise in real life. For others, it’s about keeping up; for some, it’s a matter of confidence.
