Wrinkle relaxing injections are very often referred to as Botox by the general public. They are also sometimes referred to as neurotoxins. They are used to rejuvenate the skin, to reduce wrinkles and and fine lines. Also used to prevent lines from forming, especially in areas that are hyperactive in movement such as in between the eyebrows or on the forehead when we raise our eyebrows and we’ve got lots of lines that go across the forehead. And very often these are the things that do bother people, make them feel as though they are visibly ageing.

It works by manipulating what we refer to as the underlying musculature. So what’s underneath the skin we manipulate the muscles by relaxing them with wrinkle relaxing injections and this gives a lovely smooth appearance to the skin.

So what we have here is what we call gingival show so we can see a lot of your gum. This is what we often refer to as a gummy smile. “I know, it’s going too high up.” So would you like us to treat that for you today as well. ‘”Yes please!”

It’s a very precise and very scientific treatment, it doesn’t take very long to do and then when you leave you’ll be given a set of as to how to look after yourself. So things to do, not to do, that may disturb your Botox while it’s developing and things that you can do – like pulling lots of faces and exaggerating your facial expressions to help the Botox to actually spread through the muscles that we’ve targeted.

There are many areas that can be treated with Botulinum Toxin. A lot of people focus on the forehead and in between the eyebrows and around the eyes. But actually you can go way beyond that, what we refer to as perioral lines or smokers lines – they can be treated with Botox. We can elevate the nasal tip, we can treat bunny lines – those ones that wrinkle up on the sides of your nose when some people smile or laugh those can be treated. And we can relax platysmal bands and we can actually slim the face with Botox as well when we target certain muscles in the lower face.
