Dermaroller Collagen Induction Therapy

Dermaroller therapy is commonly known as Skin Needling or Collagen Induction Therapy and is designed to trigger new collagen synthesis in the skin, leading to younger, brighter and healthier-looking skin.

As the Dermaroller is rolled over your skin, numerous, ultra-fine micro-needles designed to penetrate through the epidermis create microscopic punctures on the skin’s surface.

By opening the skin in this way you not only dramatically increase the penetration of any topical product, increasing its efficacy, but you also create miniature perforations that stimulate the skin’s healing mechanisms, increasing production of many important factors for healthy skin.

The concept of skin needling or collagen induction therapy is based on the skin’s natural ability to repair itself whenever it encounters physical damage, such as cuts, burns and other abrasions.

Immediately after an injury occurs to the skin, our body reuses the damaged collagen and elastin fibres as well as other damaged skin components to produce new ones.

Skin needling allows for controlled induction of the skin’s self repair mechanism by creating micro-“injuries” in the skin which trigger new collagen synthesis, yet does not pose the risk of permanent scarring.

Skin needling provides results similar to laser resurfacing, Fraxel® and chemical skin peels but at a lower cost and with little or no downtime.

The Dermaroller creates thousands of tiny puncture wounds to the skin which induces the release of growth factors that stimulate the production of new collagen and elastin. Creating dermal damage without removal of the healthy epidermis, as with other resurfacing techniques, means the healing time is rapid and does not cause any comparable discomfort.

Results are quick and will last.

Thirty minutes prior to the start of your treatment, your botonics Dermaroller practitioner will use a topical anaesthetic to numb your skin.

Your botonics practitioner will use a Genuine Dermaroller medical device to produce thousands of micro-medical needle-columns in the skin. Each column will penetrate into the dermis of the skin and will be approximately 0.1mm in width. The column will close rapidly enabling the skin to recover quickly - often in the same day.

It will normally take up to 30 minutes for the topical anaesthetic to work and 20 - 30 minutes for the Genuine Dermaroller Therapy treatment.

Genuine Dermaroller Therapy uses the Dermaroller, a high quality sterile single use medical device, the only such device approved within the EU and only available in the UK and Ireland from trained medical practitioners and authorised clinics such as botonics.

The device penetrates the skin with thousands of microscopic needle-columns, which encourages the skin’s natural repair process. As the skin regenerates, new collagen and skin cells are formed and blood supply is enhanced.

Your botonics practitioner will normally recommend that your Genuine Dermaroller Therapy consists of a series of 2 - 3 Dermaroller treatment with approximately 6 weeks between them.

In the treatment of acne scars and other types of scarring it may be necessary for your practitioner to extend your Genuine Dermaroller Therapy.

With recovery often taking place the same day as the treatment is carried out, you will just look like you've had moderate sunburn following your Dermaroller Therapy session.

Immediately after, your botonics practitioner may well apply Chiroxy Cream to help soothe and calm your skin. You'll be advised to treat the skin gently until the redness has cleared.

After a Dermaroller Therapy treatment your body will start to naturally regenerate and repair the skin, working below the surface in the dermis.

This takes time as new collagen is formed, new skin cells are generated and blood supply is enhanced. It can take up to 6 weeks before visible signs of regeneration and repair are seen and the process will continue over the following months, providing you with a natural and long lasting enhancement.

In the first weeks the skin will normally look brighter and more vibrant and about six weeks later the regeneration and repair process can tighten the skin and reduce pigmentation.

The process will continue over the following months, providing natural and long lasting enhancement.

Up to three sessions, six weeks apart, are usually recommended.
